  • Endogenous: Endo in Greek means ‘inner’ or ‘internal.’ Genous means ‘generating, producing, yielding.’ So it basically means internally producing.
  • Cannabinoid: What we produce inside our own bodies ( endogenously )( endo means: “originating within the body”) as a part of a system called the Endocannabinoid System
  • Endocannabinoid System: All species of life on this planet have been shown to have some sort of ECS in them. Even Sea Sponges have an ECS. It is the regulatory system that ensures that receptors are giving and receiving 
  • Phytocannabinoid: The word phyto means plant. In other words, plant-based cannabinoids.
  • Anandamide: One of the cannabinoids that we produce endogenously (in our own bodies).
  • Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC): A phytocannabinoid that is consumed and produces a psychedelic ‘high.’
  • Cannabidiol (CBD): A phytocannabinoid that is consumed but does not produce a ‘high,’ but rather a more relaxed and sedated effect.
  • Homeostasis: An act of balance inside any given living (biologic) environment. (The circle of life.)
  • Terpene: Another set of many compounds that give plants their unique scent profiles. These also mix with the THC to provide the specific high and effect of each individual cannabis strain. 
  • CB1 and CB2 Receptors: The two primary receptors inside the Endocannabinoid System. The CB1 receptor is more focused within the spinal and brain areas, while the CB2 receptor frequents more of the peripheral (the body) nervous system and within immune cells.
